Fun Things to Do in Stow, Ohio with Your Family This Summer

Fun Summer Activities for your family in Stow, Ohio

It’s summer and it’s time to maximize your time in Northeast Ohio’s rarest weather – beautiful, warm summer days! Look no further than this list of fun things to do and explore in the local Stow, Ohio community!

As an added bonus, all of these suggestions are super photo-friendly because they are coming from a local photographer, Desiree Dube Photography, LLC!

1) Grab some ice cream at a local parlor

One thing I love about Stow is that we have one of the BEST ice cream spots around: Handel’s! There is nothing better to do with your loved ones than to go for a refreshing and delicious ice cream cone on a hot summer day!

Tip: My favorite flavor is oree-dough – if you haven’t tried it, you ARE missing out.

2) Take a walk or catch an event at Stow City Hall

Have you ever thought about going on a walk around City Hall? I think it’s one of the cutest areas in Stow, and it’s super family friendly. There are sidewalks and it’s a relatively flat area, perfect for walking with littles and strollers. You can also stop at the SKiP Playground for a fun afternoon!

As an added bonus, there are fun activities all throughout the summer from concerts to yoga to clean up days! Check out the Fun in Stow page for more details.

3) Fly kites in your yard or at a local park

Find a nice open space and try your hand at flying kites together! This was one of my favorite summer activities as a kid, and it’s something I still remember doing with my siblings. There’s just something really wondrous for a child about getting a colorful kite and watching it take off!

4) Visit the local library

Okay, I don’t know if this counts as maximizing the summer weather, but there are bound to be rainy days, right? The Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library is such a good family outing! Grab a book for everyone in the family and attend one of their fun events like Bow Wow Book Buddies (I can’t even, this is SO cute – kids 6-11 get to read to therapy dogs to gain confidence in reading!).

5) Have fun with bubbles

Blowing bubbles or using a bubble machine can be so entertaining for kids! Grab a bubble machine or some bubble wands and go have fun!

6) Go for a picnic in a local park

There are so many great options for picnic spots in Stow, Ohio! I recommend Meadowbrook Lake Park – it has some nice spots to look out at the lake and it’s especially pretty at sunset!

Tip: Don’t want to load up everyone in the car? If you have a yard, lay out a blanket and have a picnic right at home!

7) Schedule a family photo session

Okay, you didn’t think a photographer WASN’T going to put this on the list, did you? But did you know a family photo session can be a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening? At Desiree Dube Photography, LLC, I specialize in capturing families doing fun activities together! So we can do a photo session with an activity on this list or think up a totally unique one to suit your family’s interests.
