The biggest mistake I see couples make when they are first planning their Redwoods and Oregon Coast elopement is not giving themselves enough time. Putting everything into one day is possible for sure, but you’re not really getting to experience the best of the Redwoods and the best of the Oregon Coast if you’re rushing from location to location trying to fit it all in, you know?
When you split your elopement into multiple days, you are able to have a more intentional, slower-paced elopement that allows you to fully explore each location while having the best experience together. And let me tell you, Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park and the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor deserve more than one day of exploration!
If you’re realizing you don’t want your elopement to feel rushed, that’s exactly what I help my couples avoid when planning their elopement experience.

If you’re wanting variety in scenery for your elopement, you can’t choose a better spot than the Southern Oregon Coast and California Redwoods. On the coast you’ll get epic overlooks and tucked away beaches with beautiful sea stacks. There are a ton of coastal hikes you can do around Brookings and the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor to get away from crowds and chill just the two of you. In the Redwoods, you’ve got awe-inspiring trees that tower above and forest landscapes that will make you feel like you’re living a fairytale. Between the two, there is a lot to experience and it can be hard to fit it all in one day.
Most people don’t realize this, but the Redwoods and Brookings are really close together. It’s only a 45-60 minute drive between the two. That means you can super easily combine the parks for your elopement, and not spend a ton of time driving between locations!
Knowing how to balance both locations (without feeling rushed) is one of the biggest things I guide my couples through when planning multi-day elopements here.
The Redwoods have beautiful soft lighting all day and really shine in the morning and evening. It’s also important to keep in mind the Redwoods get super busy during the late morning through the afternoon and parking can get scarce during peak hours in the summer.
The Oregon Coast is best explored at sunrise and sunset. You’ll have soft light in the morning and then dramatic golden hour lighting in the evening with the sun setting on the water.
This overlap with the best lighting in each location can make it difficult to capture all you want to in just one day.

When you are planning a Redwoods and Oregon Coast elopement, you’re targeting two extremely beautiful parks with a lot to offer. You don’t want to feel FOMO about missing out on a beautiful location or what to include in your elopement.
You don’t want to feel rushed and be hopping from location to location all day. You want to take things slow and be present with each other throughout your elopement experience.
The more time you add to your elopement, the more you can slow down and allow space for meaningful moments. You can do things like take in sunrise together on the beach, hangout together at your Airbnb cuddling on the couch or chilling in the hot tub, or go horseback riding in the Redwoods.
If you’re worried about weather for your elopement, adding in an extra day can help make sure we have maximum flexibility to move things around as needed.
You want the best of both worlds, including guests in your elopement but also reserving time for just the two of you. That’s where a multi-day elopement comes in to save the day. You can celebrate with your guests one day and then have an adventure alone the next day.
If you found yourself nodding along to a few of these, there’s a good chance a multi-day elopement in the Redwoods and Oregon Coast is exactly what you’re looking for! Learn more about how I can help.
