Planning a Winter Proposal in Downtown Hudson

R contacted me a few weeks ahead of his January proposal to start planning. I helped scout some locations for him and he picked the perfect spot to propose, right under the pergola in downtown Hudson, Ohio.

After picking his proposal location, R planned a decoy lunch to throw M off, and the surprise proposal plans were in motion! The only thing that had him nervous was the unpredictable January weather…

A Snowy Surprise Proposal in Hudson, Ohio

That’s right, the forecast was calling for a chance of snow… or rain?! But the date had been set, the lunch plan was in motion, and this was the only date that worked, so R decided to move forward and keep an eye on things.

We were able to collectively breathe a sigh of relief a few days before – the forecast was now just calling for snow.

The morning of brought light snow flurries and a fresh powder on the ground. The flurries then tapered off and completely stopped right as R & M approached the proposal location.

It ended up being the perfect timing and the perfect place – R popped the question and M said, “Yes!”

Celebrating Their Engagement with a Photo Session

R had booked additional time to capture some photos after his proposal or just in case anything went wrong with the plan and we needed more time. Luckily, everything went according to plan and there was plenty of time left. They decided to take the opportunity to explore downtown Hudson and capture the joy of the moment.

Some of my favorite photos from the session were from an impromptu snowball fight in front of the museum. Perks of a snowy Ohio engagement session!
