Go for a Hike on Your Elopement Day

Okay this one might seem obvious, but truly the Oregon Coast is such a beautiful destination for hiking – it can’t be missed! Whether you are looking for something more challenging like the God’s Thumb hike or more of a quick walk to a beautiful destination like Cannon Beach’s Haystack Rock, the Oregon Coast has something for everyone.

Easy ways to incorporate a hike include hiking to a beautiful ceremony location or a unique spot for portraits or a picnic.

Find Waterfalls Near the Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast is a short drive from several beautiful waterfalls.

From waterfalls on beaches like Hug Point (best of both worlds!) to ones that are a bit more of a drive like Elk Creek Falls, there’s a lot to choose from.

If you love waterfalls, consider a multi-day elopement incorporating the Columbia River Gorge

Go Horseback Riding During Your Oregon Coast Elopement

Picture this: you, your love, horseback riding down a gorgeous beach on the Oregon Coast in your wedding attire. If that sounds like your vibe, check out one of the Oregon Coast’s several riding stables and book a private ride for your elopement day.

Have a Romantic Picnic

This is an easy one to fit in – you have to eat afterall! Especially if you are planning on a more adventurous or remote day, pack a picnic and share a meal together somewhere special while you soak up the joy of being officially married.

Go Surfing in the Pacific Ocean

Love surfing? There’s no rule that says you can’t enjoy your favorite hobby on your elopement day. Pack your wetsuit and your boards and hit the beach.

Go Bird or Whale Watching During Your Elopement

The Oregon Coast is great for viewing wildlife. If you’re an avid birdwatcher, why not see if you can spot some birds (maybe even some rare ones) during your day? The sealife is also rich in Oregon, and you can look for whales during their migrations in the spring and winter.

Explore Tide Pools at Low Tide

Tide pooling is one of my favorite pastimes on the Oregon Coast. There’s just nothing quite like the tide going out and revealing the rich life of the ocean. Spot colorful sea stars, urchins, anemones, mussels, and more.

Hug Point at low tide, a fun spot for tide pooling - a great Oregon Coast elopement activity idea.

Get Adventurous for Your Elopement and Go Out to the Oregon Coast Dunes

Did you know the Oregon Coast has several areas with dunes? I mean, truly, some of them are massive! That means fun activities like OHV riding or sand surfing/sledding. There are also some dunes you can hike across to get to the ocean. Options are endless for an adventurous day on the dunes!

Fly Kites Together

If you didn’t already know, the Oregon Coast tends to be windy! That means it’s great for things like flying kites! Have a throwback to childhood fun, and break out kites during your elopement.

Head to the Oregon or California Redwoods

Did you know you can easily fit in extra exploration during your Oregon Coast elopement? Opt for a full day or multi-day elopement on the Southern Oregon Coast and drive down to Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park – the park is only an hour away from popular spots in the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor.
